Horizon Japan International School was established in 2003 as an accredited school by the Japanese Government. To a student body of Preschool through Middle School that represents over 20 nationalities, HJIS provides a high-quality education based on Cambridge and UK Curricula. With the mission to develop the intellect and character of each student by providing an outstanding international education with a global perspective for academic, social, and personal success in a responsive environment that promotes self-discipline, and excellence, HJIS’s goal is to ensure that all students are actively involved in their education and learn in new and innovative ways. Low student-to-teacher ratio and the availability of a number of support programmes allow the teaching staff works closely with each student to fulfil their educational needs. The students have many opportunities to pursue interesting and challenging academic programs as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
Critical to the success of HJIS is the active involvement of all members of the school community in an environment that fosters caring and courageous behaviour, and places the child’s interests at the core. The interaction of students, faculty and families creates an energetic and dynamic atmosphere. Students greatly benefit from this family-like environment for their character development and community awareness. HJIS is proud of its multinational faculty who provide a wealth of expertise together with their enthusiasm and dedication. Through their own international exposure, they are sensitive to creating a successful learning experience for each of their students.
