AWOL Tours provides educational tours and experiential learning beyond the classroom. The company assists educators to bring the natural sciences, history, culture and politics of the world to life and logistical support to touring academic institutions visiting South Africa and Australia.
AWOL is run by educators with the knowledge and understanding of what makes a trip a unique learning experience with customised itineraries to suit academic requirements and budgetary constraints. Tours are ideal for special interest groups, school and university groups who require academic programmes and it takes away the pressure of logistical management of organizing a trip.
AWOL's mission is:
- To expand young people’s horizons, create growth by personal challenges and encourage more in-depth understanding of the world with hands-on learning beyond the classroom.
- To provide clients with meaningful and informative interactions with local people in a manner that brings mutual benefit and understanding.
- To create a deeper understanding of the natural environment by means of contribution towards scientific studies and grass-roots environmental projects
AWOL stands for ‘A World of Learning’. The name AWOL is a play on the military term 'Absent Without Leave’ and implies learning beyond the classroom environment and indulging in an active refreshing learning experience while travelling. |
